Niccokick are old-school indie heads, and despite not having released an album since 2008’s The Good Times We Shared, Were They So Bad? they still have an audience who faithfully show up to their shows. Here, they’re joined by two shoegaze up-and-comers, heavy dreamers Star Horse (who are about to pop out on tour to China soon) and Adrian Recordings’ latest signings Spunsugar.

POETRY: STOCKHOLM INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL
Poetry fans can expect a fantastic celebration of the spoken word from all over the world as Stockholm International Poetry Festival takes over Konstakadamien this weekend. They’re bringing poets from countries as diverse as Chile, Russia, Zambia, Syria, Czech Republic, Estonia, USA and Denmark to perform, along with local poets. This year’s theme is ‘finding home’, and things kick off with readings by Raúl Zurita, Maria Stepanova and Carolyn Forché on Friday.

This year marks 500 years since Leo Da Vinci painted his last guy with the arms in the circle thing and passed onto the pioneering idea for a flight machine in the sky. But how to pay tribute to the genius? Well, Medelhavsmuseet and Bohm Bohm Room have come up with the idea of capturing a modern version of that innovative and daring spirit, with an exhibition/performance in November. Performance, music, art and dance come together in modern re-imaginings of Da Vinci’s classics, in an intimate show with three different acts involving musicians Off The Meds and Princess Prada, along with performers Quarto and Ofelia Jarl Ortega, all chosen for the multi-disciplinary, borderless work. Ann Follin of Världskulturmuseerna says: “Few know how multi-faceted Leonardo Da Vinci really was. He was a universal genius with an unbelievable talent, and a boundary-pushing figure. He moved easily between art, science and technology, always ahead of his time. Now as people all over the world celebrate his 500th anniversary, we want to invite people to an evening in Leonardo Da Vinci’s honour. An boundary-crossing, complete experience in three acts”.
