Nobiskällaren is one of the biggest in Northern Europe of its type. They opened as the first Swedish temperature-controlled wine cellar in 1961, and now it’s packed with nearly 40,000 bottles and 2100 different labels. Around sixty wines are available on glass.
When the cellar opened in 1961, the keys were only given out to certain members. These special people could both store wines in the cellar and come together with their friends to drink them. Because of Swedish law, the key system became unsustainable, and Nobiskällaren became instead a private club. Now in November, the cellar is opening for the public – no more keys.
“To finally be able to open up Nobiskällaren is a privilege. A dream I’ve had for a long time. I see it as a big addition to the house and the dining hall, which has long lacked a meeting point like this. Nobiskällaren will be a place where guests can gather and enjoy a historical location and unique wines which you won’t find anywhere else”, says restaurant manager Hugo Hall.
