In Aberdeen’s old building on Grev Turegatan, the restaurant Zink is returning to life under the new name Gastrotek Zink. “When our extremely popular restaurant ZINK Grill closed, we were sure that some wonderful day its doors would open again. It took just over two years, but now we have a refined concept and we’re unbelievably proud of the work of our head chef Joni Germond, who was already with us back in 2008 and created Zink Grill. He has put together our new-old menu”, says Filip Given, founder and CEO of Braseriegruppen.
The founding concept with the grill in the centre remains, but the menu is a little broader, and now includes inspirations from the Basque Country in Spain, Tuscany in Italy, Provence in France as well as the coasts of San Francisco.
“The menu is based on season, availability and mood, and we’ll be creating fantastic dishes with different techniques”,
The inspiration for the new Zink comes from the olden days’ craftspeople, like bakers and butchers, where the process and the raw ingredients are openly visible to the guests and a part of the character of the place. Zink’s food concept, with the ingredients at the centre, has been made possible by the design from architecture bureau Tengbom, and is visible in their specially designed shelves, cabinets and cupboards, where guests can everything from the conserves to dried peas.
