August in Stockholm is one of the most action-packed months to be around the city. It’s smack-bang in the middle of summer, a lot of people are either on vacation or still in that mindset. The sun is out, and it’s a time when the city’s usual workrate tends to take a backseat and Stockholm’s focus is on fun in the sun.
So it’s fitting that this is one of the busiest times of year for the city’s event calendar. The month kicks off with Stockholm Pride, which starts on July 29 and then stretches into August, wrapping up with the parade on August 3. Then for the culturally-minded, there’s Stockholm Kulturfestival, featuring music, talks, tours and more. Running parallel with that is the mini, youth-orientated festival We Are Sthlm, with this year’s line-up featuring artists like Ms. Banks, Imenella and Lamix performing in Kungsträdgården. For the film buffs, Stockholm Film Festival are hosting film evenings in Rålambshovsparken between August 14 and 18. There’s a bunch of other festivals happening too, covering everything from books to indie rock. And of course, it’s a great time of year to grab a beer or a glass of wine at one of the city’s outdoor terraces or rooftop bars.
And if you’re dropping into visit and looking for a place to stay, Interhome has a range of options all over Stockholm. The Swedish sun is a rare creature, so August is the best time to make sure you get, and make the most of, your share of it.
