Jenny Nordlander is the brand-new editor in chief of Nöjesguiden, Sweden’s biggest magazine when it comes to pop culture and politics. She lives in Midsommarkransen south of the city, and in her spare time she likes to do ballet and to drink coffee. Given her new position we figured she would be the perfect woman for a grilling about what the capital city has to offer when darkness falls.
Now that you’ve got a new job, how are your plans looking for this year?
My plan is to work really hard with Nöjesguiden, hang out with my family, friends and my very new boyfriend. Hopefully I will have time to travel too.
Are there any nightlife highlights that are not be missed?
Natten – I love Natten. There is only slow-dance music from the 80’s and 90’s and everybody is there to dance. Also, all of Nöjesguiden’s events of course.
If you’re going out dining, where are the first places you head for?
The Chinese restaurant Ho’s in Hornstull and Gyllenborgens mat in Midsommarkransen.
And are there any bars you like to hang out at?
Mbargo in Hornstull and Söders Hjärta by Mariatorget.
What do you think we will see more of in the music scene next year?
Women.
How can Stockholm’s nightlife improve?
It could definitely become more diverse. We need people from different neighborhoods to meet each other.
What is your favourite thing about Stockholm?
That many of the people that I love live here. There is always something new to see, explore and experience. It’s a small city but at the same time it is huge and the people are very creative.
