Foodloopz Aims To Reduce Food Waste With Pop-Up At Söderhallarna

Foodloopz is a newly started company that aims to help companies reduce food waste. The idea is pretty simple. They provide a digital platform where companies and organisations can buy, sell and donate food products that might otherwise be at risk of being unnecessarily tossed. And as a way to test their concept, they’re opening a food recycling pop-up at Söderhallarna this January.

Every Thursday Foodloopz’s pop-up will open offering customers food that might otherwise have been thrown away. After they’ve chosen what they want, customers can then pay by making a voluntary donation to the organisation Food2Change, which works to encourage the grocery industry to reduce waste.

Foodloopz founder Elin Aronsen Beis says:”The idea for Foodloopz has germinated since I worked for the purchasing branch of a grocery company. I then became aware of how much is thrown away and the causes of waste. The problem can be for example incorrect orders, incorrect readings or a too-short best-before-date. No-one reallys wants to throw away good food, but the industry often lacks the time and the alternative. With Foodloopz and our food recycling pop-up we’re making a win-win situation, for the companies who have goods left over and for the customers who can buy good food for a good price”.

The Foodloopz pop-up at Söderhallarna is open every Thursday until February 1
