When we met lofi-pop musician ShitKid to talk about her debut album Fish in the middle of 2017, she said “I might always want to move on kind of quickly. I’ve already recorded some new songs, so I might want to make an EP next, or something a little longer. But I’ve already started to record those, and I think they’ll be even better. So yeah, I already want to move on”. Just over half a year later, she’s fulfilled her own prophecy, and is back with a new EP. A confident inversing of the title Strokes’ classic Is This It, This Is It is out on Friday, and it continues to follow the musical trends she showed on Fish, a sharper, more fully-realised and less chaotic writing style. It’s even earned her a booking at top-of-the-line discovery festival SXSW in Austin Texas, but before that she’s going on tour in Sweden. The opening date is at Riche Lilla Baren on Wednesday, when you’ll get the chance to hear the new record live before it arrives on Friday. Entrance is free, and ShitKid’s label PNKSLM DJ.
