King Lear is one of the grandest roles in Shakespeare, and one that demands an actor of statue to play it. So luckily, this version, premiered last year at the Chichester Festival Theatre, has Ian McKellen in the title role. McKellen has played Lear before, but has said that this production will likely be his last big Shakespeare part.
