Since 2005 the talented classmate of Hot Chip and Burial, Jamie Smith, has been recognized for making dreamy electronic pop music in The xx, together with school friends Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Baria Qureshi. Yet, the skilled producer holds an individual style on his own. The work he’s doing under the acronym Jamie xx holds resemblance to The xx, but is definitely a strong, unique approach to the minimalistic sound flushing through the European club scene.

Jamie xx is a producer and remix artist, known for being the musical mastermind behind the enormously successful band The xx. His collaboration with Gil Scott-Heron, on the remix album We’re New Here, Scott-Heron and Jamie xx was celebrated by the critics. Jamie xx’s remixes has been successful, yet sparse. In 2011, he released the double-single Far Nearer/Beat For, which is a monumentally great two-track single that doesn’t resemble anything else. It’s those steel drums combined with minimalistic beats and dreamy sound effects that makes it so cool and relaxed.

Supporting Jamie xx is Stockholm’s own minimalistic mayor, Axel Boman. With the song ”Not So Much,” his endless mixes on Soundcloud and a residency at the fashionable Berns in Stockholm, Boman has proven again and again that he is more than worthy to warm up a buzzing crowd, particularly the one that will be at Under Bron this weekend. The show is sure to attract those who have come to see Axel Boman do his thing just as much as Jamie xx.

Even though the main artist is only doing a DJ-set, it’s bound to make the Skanstull bridge shake on Friday night. With Axel Boman, Body with Teengirl Fantasy, DJ City, DJ Alonzo, Bruce Leenus and Äsch playing as well, this gig at Under Bron is definitely going to be something special. Make sure you’ll be there. We know we will.
