When Linda Pira appeared on the single ”Rom & Kush” by Swedish rapper Stor, no one knew who she was despite the fact her rapping had been going on for almost a decade. After being placed in the corner by the male-dominated hip hop world, she is now finally coming into her own. Following the huge success with ”Rom & Kush”, Pira got a record deal with the Salazar Brothers at Redline Records, an independent sub label to Universal. The label is famous for signing Swedish hip hop acts like Carlito, Stor, Labyring, Mohammed Ali and Amsie Brown and is located at the end of the red subway line in Norsborg, hence the name of the label.
Just as everything was coming together for Pira’s career, she got pregnant. With twins. Convincing herself that she wouldn’t let this speed bump slow her down, she decided to still make music. Her adventure was documented in a short series by SVT Play, titled ’Linda PIra – som du inte visste om’. Her journey since then has been successful and with the release of the song ”Bang Bang/Bäng Bäng” her fame reached a wider audience. She is currently working on an EP with the Salazar Brothers, planned for release in early 2014 on Redline Records, the flagship for Swedish hip hop.
On Saturday night, Färgfabriken is honored with the presence of Linda Pira, Stor (Pira’s sort-of mentor) and The Salazar Brothers. With the help of Stor and The Salazar Brothers the gig is sure to be unforgettable and without a doubt a landmark in the career of Linda Pira.
