Marabouparken Explores Space And Politics With ‘Starting From The Self’

Posted June 29, 2017 in Arts

Space and the rules that govern space and the areas we spend time in are inherently political. Marabourparken’s new exhibition Starting From The Self explores this question. The exhibition brings together the work of a number of artists who probe the rules imposed on the space around us, from Billie Zangewa’s depictions of the home to Lubaina Himid’s work on the unspoken laws of the cities we live in. Other artists in the exhibition include the Sundbyberg-based Helga Henschen, who reworks advertising to communicate criticisms of society, and Pia Sandström, whose work forms the frame for the other artists in the exhibition. Starting From The Self runs until August.

Starting From The Self, Marabouparken, On display until Aug 27
