The Japanese retail outlet MUJI, which specialises in slickly-designed clothing and household items, has been present at Åhléns for a while now. But now the brand is stepping things up a notch in terms of ambition, taking over the fourth floor at Åhléns City for what will become their Swedish flagship store, as well as their biggest store in Europe.

The new boutique will cover a whopping 1 216 m2, and will include products from all across Muji’s range, with new additions not previously available at Åhléns including furniture, bedding, textiles and lighting, along with services including interior design and styling consultants. New items in the clothing section include Walker Active Wear, designed for sports and outdoor wear, and the new collection One All, designed as a one-size collection to suit all women. The new store is partially crafted from wood taken from a 100-year-old abandoned barn in Dalarna.

“We have previously had a little shop-in-shop with selected MUJI products at Åhléns City that has always been popular. But with our new flagship store, we believe we can help more Swedes to live a comfortable life with the help of our simple and universal products”, says Ino Ryosuke, CEO at MUJI Sweden.

Muji at Åhléns City opens at 09:30 on Friday, August 16, with free goody-bags to the first hundred customers through the door. There’ll also bee a 30% sale on many items between Aug 16-19.
