Mums Mums
Mums has totally worked out how to keep its hip status – release just one hyper-ambitious issue per year with a strong theme, get a mix of yesteryear’s cult heroes and current trendsetters to participate, and throw one helluva release party to go with it. For its fifth number Mums is going even bolder, setting death as the primary theme and seeing it from new perspectives. Despite the gravity of the subject, it is all served up with a mix of glamour and black humour to go with the grieving – Mums’ signature touch.
One of the questions Mums tackles is that of the magazine itself as a format, and the team investigate the persistent rumours of the death of print. And if the paper magazine is indeed dead, this issue of Mums represents a spectacular funeral, and on which the producers intend to follow with an equally spectacular reincarnation.
This fifth issue of Mums will thus become something completely new, a step forward in the quest of what a magazine can be, and in collaboration with Grolsch Studios, Mums was inviting the whole country to be involved in deciding how this reincarnation should look. So in a sense, we were all editors of Mums.
