Arkiv Lövholmen

Industrial and former industrial areas are often the parts of modern cities that undergo the most rapid change these days, and Lövholmen is certainly an example of that process. As industry leaves the area, it becomes the target of the plans and dreams of a wide variety of people: as its old role disappears, what should it become? The art hall Färgfabriken is based in the area, and their new exhibition Arkiv Lövholmen: Historier & Framtider dives into the area’s past present and future. The exhibition will be packed with archival material from the area’s industrial past, witness material from the activity in Lövholmen and the people who worked there, and will even include projections on the side of the Färgfabriken building of scenes from the building’s industrial past. Other parts of the exhibition will focus on the present: Lövholmen today hosts many artists, and the work they produce in the former factories-turned-studios has built a creative ecosystem in the area. And then there’s the future: city planners and thinkers talk about the future of Lövholmen: what should it become next? With archival material, artwork and discussions, Arkiv Lövholmen explores the varied and complex nature of this part of the city, and asks where time will take it next. It opens on January 25.
