It’s probably safe to say that the Pixies are one of the most influential, weird and awesome bands to ever exist. Over two decades after their forming, the Pixies are embarking on a world tour with the first new material since 1991.
The band has rehearsed around eighty songs for this tour in order to be able to change the set list depending on what kind of mood they’re in. Which is pretty cool, I mean, in most cases when you look at set lists from entire tours, there’s usually not much variety. The band has also promised to plays songs they’ve never played live before; ”Havalina”, ”Brick is Red” and ”Tony’s Theme” are just some of the tracks from the legendary Boston band we’ve never experienced live.
The album Trompe Le Monde from 1991(!) was the last time we were blessed with an original Pixies album. Only two years after the release of the 1991 album the group disbanded. It took over a decade before they found each other again, and embarked on a world tour after gaining much cult-like popularity during their hiatus.
On November 15th, their tour reaches Stockholm and Münchenbryggeriet, and for anyone who has ever tried to shout “HEY!” at the exact same moment as Black Francis, but failed, this night is something you’re not going to want to miss.
Words by David Johansson.
Pixies plays on 15 November at Münchenbryggeriet.
