GIG: RIGA TIGER/ LA LUSID
Since 2017 and the release of their debut album Jag håller inte med om din åsikt och är beredd att döda dig för den, Gothenburg six-piece Riga Tiger have been a consistent source of sparkling guitars and chippy, chirpy indie pop that blends irreverence and everyday melancholy. Now it’s time for them to enter Big Season, with the release of their new album Om du tänker på tiden så går den, which they’re celebrating with a show at Debaser. They’re joined at this show by La Lusid, whose own dreamily sad and pretty record, La Lusid, came out last year.

Sep 13, 20:00-03:00, Debaser Strand

FESTIVAL: GATHER 2019
Gather comes to town this weekend, with a conference programme that covers everything from flat earth to cancer-curing nanobots. You can read more about that here, and don’t forget that Gather’s music party, Gather Night, will be at Trädgården and Hosoi on Friday and Saturday.
Sep 12-14, Various Venues

FILM: KINOTEKA STOCKHOLM
Kinoteka is Polska Institutet’s annual Polish Film Festival, and this year happens to be its tenth anniversary. Portraits of women in film are one of this year’s themes, and the festival opens on Thursday with Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s 2019 Swedish-Czech-Polish production Kvinnan som glömde sitt förflutna. It then continues until Sunday, with all showings at Zita Folkets Bio.

Sep 12-15, Zita Folkets Bio

GARDEN: JAPANESE GARDENS
A celebration of Japanese gardens and the role they play in Japanese culture is coming to Etnografiska Museet this Sunday, led by Kristina Fridh of Högskolan för design och konsthantverk, Göteborgs universitet, who’ll be expanding on the garden in Japanese society. Afterwards, the Japanese tea enthusiasts association Japanska Thesällskapet will be serving green tea, meaning this event has an entry cost of 30kr for non-members.
Sep 15, 13:00-16:00, Etnografiska Museet

FESTIVAL: LADIESLOVEHIPHOP
Linda Napoles, Rebecca Tegegne and Nataša Marijana are LadiesLoveHipHop, a creative collective that have been a force on the scene for a while now. And now they’re being handed the keys to Trädgården, and are curating their own one-day hip-hop (well, obviously) festival. It’s an international and local line-up of live artists includes Sabina Ddumba, Bossy LDN, Nadia Rose, Rimon and more, and there will also be great DJs, great food and more. Tickets are 200kr pre-sale, and available on the door for higher prices.

Sep 14, 15:00-03:00, Trädgården
