Stockholm Has A New Asian Restuarant: Meet TAKO

Down a spiral staircase on Birger Jarlsgatan is where you’ll find TAKO, Stockholm’s newest Asian dining experience. The people behind the project are Christian Olsson, Kristofer Sandström and Niklas Odin, the restaurant equivalent of a supergroup, with the trio already having stakes in Vassa Eggen, Tennstopet and Kommendören.

Scenically, TAKO sticks out. You don’t see many restaurants, let alone underground restaurants that come with their own (albeit artificial) stream. The sushi kitchen is open with seating around it, so you can watch your food on its journey from ingredient to plate, if that’s your kind of thing. TAKO means squid or dragon in Japanese, and it’s Japanese and Korean dining on the menu at TAKO, with dishes including Pork Steam Buns, Crispy Duck Salad and Teriyaki Skewers.

Christian Olsson says “The kitchen’s generous opening hours making late-night dining and quality take-away possible. Our head chef for the sushi kitchen, Nymaa Sarantuya, has a lot of experience of his art, and his team come from well-renowned restaurants. Martin Gradin has had an impressive journey with us at Vassa Eggen, where he started as a student five years ago. He’s now the head of the grill-kitchen at TAKO. We feel like we’re in good hands with this team”.

TAKO is open from 17:30-00:00 (kitchen open 23:30) from Monday to Tuesday, 17:30-01:00 (23:30) on Wednesday and on Thursday-Saturday from 17:30-02:00 (01:00). Lunch is available on weekdays from 11:30-14:00.
