Outdoor Bars

The arrival of the outdoor bar season in late April/ early May is one of the most eagerly-awaited signs of summer, when you can exorcise the cold that has crept into your bones over the last few winter months by taking a beer or cocktail in the glorious, newly-arrived sunlight and warmth. To celebrate the return of that season, we’ve put together a list of the Stockholm’s best outdoor bars.

Mosebacke Terrassen
Maybe the ultimate outdoor bar in Stockholm, Södra Teatern’s sweeping terrace offers views of the whole eastern part of the city, the perfect sight of the sunlight hitting from central city to Djurgården. They’ll also be hosting occasional concerts over the summer. This summer the entire terrace has undergone a winter-long renovation, so it’s back with a new stage, new bars and full dining options, as well as a daytime cafe.

Takpark Urban Deli
A little island high above Sveavägen, Urban Deli have given their roofbar a lush, park-like aesthetic. They’ve got a 360 degree view over the city, and if it gets cold or wet you can always drop down to the bar and restaurant on the ground floor.

Bleck
For something more relaxed and a little more chill, Bleck might be the perfect place. Located at the edge of Lilla Blecktornsparken just off Katarina Bangatan, they specialise in cocktails and even offer cocktail pitchers you can share with friends, including the CCA with gin, apple, cucumber and lemon and a Pimm’s cup.

Tak
Another island high above the city, Tak offers another near 360 degree view of the city from its position on the regenerated Brunkebergstorg, with a wide-ranging cocktail menu and Japanese snacks like Onigiri. There’s also the Japanese/ Nordic restaurant run by Frida Ronge if you end up feeling more hungry.

Barrio
Barrio is Hornhuset’s roof terrace, and maybe one of the smallest, cosiest roof terraces in the city. Boxy, wooden decor, summer beers and good wine, as well as fast, simple bar food.

Ångbåtsbryggan
Sat on a little barge just off Östermalm, Ångbåtsbryggan brings the nautical vibe into the middle of the city, with some of the best water views of Skeppsholmen, Djurgården, Södermalm it’s possible to get. Opening late in April, they have drinks, cocktails and occasional DJs over the summer.

Patricia
A floating bar, restaurant and nightclub, Patricia started off life as a regular ship before anchoring in its current location in 1986 and transforming into an entertainment venue.  The view looks out across the water towards Kungsholmen, food options extend to lobster and steak, and at night it transforms into a nightclub with special gay nights.

Sjöcaféet
Another place that really comes to life when the sun shines down, Sjöcafeet is perched right at the entrance to Djurgården, and possesses one of the city’s biggest outdoor serving areas. The perfect place to round off a day spent wandering around Djurgården, you can even hire canoes and bikes from them – though it’s probably best to do this before, rather than after, you enjoy a drink.

Nomad
Hidden away from the view of the street, Nomad’s inner garden is a secret gem with wooden decking and a chill atmosphere. They also host live music and DJs over the summer, and serve a modern take on traditional Swedish food.

Lydmar
Located outside the entrance to the hotel and looking out over the water over towards Skeppsholmen, Lydmar’s patio is a high-class place to grab a drink or cocktail. They also have a full programme of music events over the summer, kicking off in 2018 on May 23.
