Stockholm’s Own Moulin Rouge

The third edition of the Stockholm Burlesque Festival will soon fill Södra Teatern with feathered headpieces and tassle-inspired looks created by Fräulein Frauke and John Paul Bichard, with the support of the Amazing Knicker Kittens. Covering art, dance, photography, and music, the festival will present the best of every type of Burlesque and cabaret from Sweden and all over of the world, with a particular emphasis on the United States and Europe. From the tassel-twirling championships raising awareness for breast cancer and the vintage photo booth to a night-long wild party, the three-day event is sure to add all ingredients for a successful and dazzling festival that stands apart from others.

Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret

Sound familiar? This group from our very shores represented the Swedish Sin in the 2013 Eurovision competition. Blackbird consists of five Swedish cabaret gems: Pepper Potemkin, Lola van Dyke, Contessa Blackbird, Miss Diamond, and the spectacular singer Grandma. Inspired by musicals, vaudeville and the roaring 20s, the five exude pure burlesque glamour. Doing shows from dinner parties to corporate events, Blackbird Burlesque Cabaret repeatedly brings uniqueness, comedy, dance, and a bit of sexy teasing to every show.

Miss Banbury Cross

This Marilyn-Monroe styled British burlesque star oozes sex appeal and old Hollywood glamour in all that she does. Miss Cross has gone by the name of “Bulletproof Blonde” among others and is one of the leaders of the burlesque scene, being voted as the 25th best burlesque performers in the World in 2011. She is known for her legendary and erotic show known as the Champagne Striptease that leaves the jaws of men and women alike dropping to the floor.

Minnie Tonka

The girl from the overlooked U.S. state of Minnesota is a dazzling star of entertainment and leading lady of cabaret. Now based in New York City, Minnie, or the “One Woman Riot,” is a multi-award winning Burlesque icon that has graced the world with her magic. She is currently the reigning queen of the Burlesque Crown held in Las Vegas of 2013. She is not only known to be an eye-catching performer but also one of the best teachers of the craft currently on the scene.
