GIG: SIGRID
What makes a popstar break through? How do they leap from major-label backing, a couple of minor hits and blog buzz to being a genuine big fucking deal, a superfamous radio fixture and household name? To be honest, no one is exactly sure (though many people make their living giving the impression they do know), some kind of blend of natural talent, charisma and right place, right time being the best bet, but what we do know is that Norwegian starlet Sigrid seems to be about to make that leap. With her debut single and EP arriving in 2017, she started to crave out her territory last year, but with the BBC Sound Of 2018 prize in the bag (previous winners: Adele, Ellie Goulding, Years and Years) she’s poised to go big in 2018 with her slick hyper-pop. She drops into Stockholm for a Debaser show on Sunday.

FILM: FILMFESTIVAL MIYAZAKI
Biocafé Tellus in Hägersten is paying tribute to a master of film this weekend, with a triple dose of films from Hayao Miyazaki, the driving force behind the legendary Studio Ghibli. The three films chosen for the festival (My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away) go three different themes and narratives, but share three of Miyazaki’s calling cards: stunning animation, love of nature and opposition to war and violence. My Neighbour Totoro is shown with Swedish dubbing, while Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are in Japanese with Swedish subtitles.
