Prohibition-era Chicago has been the source of much fictional entertainment since booze was banned in America in 1920. Along with movie classic The Untouchables, the musical *Chicago* has got to be up there among the best efforts, taking its plot from a 1924 murder trial.
The musical is based on the 1926 play and opened on Broadway in 1975, playing on stages and screens all over the world ever since.
The latest instalment in this triumphal procession is the version to be staged at Stockholm Stadsteatern, premiering in September and starring Lisa Nilsson and Sharon Dyall as the two women vying for the limelight while Dan Ekborg plays lawyer Billy Flynn.
