It’s the early 1960s, and a young girl called Anita tries on her mother’s old wedding dress, which provokes a panic within her. She decides that she’ll never let herself get caught in the chokehold of societal institutions like marriage, and embarks on a new identity – Donna Juanita.
Donna Juanita is a brand-new musical, written by Johanna Garpe and Erik Norberg and with songs by Hans Alfredson and Tage Danielsson. TV presenter Gina Dirawi takes the title role and stars alongside Maja Rung, Claire Wikholm and Matilda Ragnerstam, and it runs at Stadsteatern all throughout December. It resumes tonight.
