GIG: MARLENE
“I wanted that sunny, positive energy in my music and I’ve always been inspired by R’N’B/soul/gospel so I just brought that into my music even more”. So said Marlene when we spoke to her this summer, and she definitely does have a knack for sun-dappled pop music. Her Sweet EP made her a nearly permanent fixture on the radio this summer, and since then she’s put out another single, Miss You A Little, another slick 90s-influenced pop jam. She’s not played live so much recently, but that changes in December with a show at Debaser Strand.
DINING: GRÖNT VEGETARISKT JULBORD
Julbord, the traditional Swedish Christmas Banquet, can be tough for vegetarians, as it is usually a pretty meat-focused event. Luckily, vegetarian restaurant Hermans are here to help. They’re hosting a vegetarian Julbord this weekend, with bookings available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
JUMPERS: BEYOND RETRO CHRISTMAS JUMPER WORKSHOP
This another very seasonal event (these are only going to keep coming this month), as Beyond Retro celebrates the humble Christmas Jumper. They’ll be at Kungsträdgården all day on Saturday, offering people the chance to buy and then decorate Christmas jumpers exactly how they want them. So if your Xmas threads look a little on the limp side this year you have know excuse: it’s all up to you.
Dec 2, 11:00-20:00, Kungsträdgården
ART: AFFISCHMARKNAD
Want to make your home, office, tree house or fleet of private jets feel a little artier? Then it might be worth getting down to ARK Gallery’s poster-sale this weekend. It features the work of artists including Hanna Gustavsson, Moa Schulman, Studio Pardon and more, and prices range, according to ARK, from “cheap to a little dearer”. Cash and Swish is king, and it’s open on both Saturday and Sunday.
CLUB: UNDER BRON BRUNCH
Under Bron are turning their clocks a little forward this winter, with a series of early day events they’re calling UB Brunches. The premise is pretty simple, brunch at Under Bron’s Växthuset restaurant, and a new DJ every time. This week it’s studio collective Drömfakulteten‘s Sofia Neves, aka Solo Show.
