THEATRE: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

After making the natural transition from novel in 1909 into film in
1925 and then into an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in 1986, Gaston
Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera has become one of the most-seen
stage works in history. By now over 140 million have viewed the spectacle
and now it’s Stockholm’s turn. But all of that you probably already know. The morsel of knowledge yet to hit you is that the costumes for the musical have a combined
weight of several tonnes and that five seamstresses have been locked
up in a basement for months in order to prepare the goods. It continues this weekend.

Oct 7, 8 @ 1930 & 1430 (8), Cirkus.
