Yeti Knows

With globalization and increased traveling, the alluring designs of far-away lands are now readily available and slung into the trend-hunting world of the West. One year, Japan and China might be the coolest thing out there (Japan always is, in our opinion), while for the next, it might be India. Dynamic duo Paula Maso and Adriana Bellet of Stockholm-based print and pattern studio Nothing Can Go Wrng seem inspired by the entire world in their work, creating ready-made print collections for a wide variety of clients, while also placing their wonderfully whimsical mark on their very own line of t-shirts, bags, cups and pillows.

Forbidden Fruit

In order to justify themselves as designers, Mattias Rask and Tor Palm of Glimpt feel the need to have their work mean something more than just a conceptualization and execution of designs, which led them to work with artisans in different countries and cultures. For the ‘Forbidden Fruit’ collection of lighting, the pair traveled to South Africa to study the wealth of crafts there. This is where they came in contact with Potters Workshop in Cape Town, where they now produce ceiling lights hand-painted in bright colours by the brothers Ernest and Wendell, who get paid 25 percent per painted lamp to support their families.

Never-ending Story

Founded in Stockholm in 2011 by Lina Zedig and Marcus Åhrén, independent design studio Oyyo’s passion is to explore the convergence of cultures, design and fine craftsmanship. The outcome is a line of original dhurrie rugs, handwoven by a community of artisans in the desert area of Rajasthan in India. Made solely from 100 percent organic cotton and dyed with vegetable dyes from local plants, we are particularly fond of the ‘Never-ending Story’ dhurrie, which is available in two different sizes. It is woven with a technique used for centuries, but has a contemporary pattern and colour palette that feels very now.
