Nöjesguiden’s editor-in-chief isn’t content to follow Stockholm’s nightlife from the pages of his magazine – If you’re lucky, you can also catch Amat Levin Djing somewhere in town at his club night Hammer Time.

What is Hammer Time all about?

Hammer Time is a club I have with my friend Hasan Ramic, where we play the best hip-hop, r’n’b and dancehall around, old and new. It’s about making people dance rather than just standing by the bar with a drink.

What do you feel when you take the pulse of Stockholm’s nightlife?

It’s becoming slightly more integrated, which is a good thing. Clubs are becoming increasingly more open to playing hip-hop and r’n’b. Not a day too soon.

What is your favourite night spot?

I usually have fun at Kåken, depending on who’s playing. But currently I’m not going out that much. It’ll probably change at some point though.

Any bars and restaurants you can recommend?

Bars: Boqueria and Nosh & Chow. And as for restaurants: Svartengrens, Farang and Back A Yard.

How does the future look – will you be pursuing Clarke Kent-style scoops or Carl Cox-style beats?

Nöjesguiden has grown as a publication in recent years, and my plans is to grow it even more. I’ll also DJ once a month or so.

What do you think about the future of Stockholm night life?

I think it will become more spread out and feature more clubs outside of the city centre.

What can be done to improve the output of the city’s club scene?

By expanding and becoming more integrated. It also needs to stop enforcing old stereotypes and rid itself of discriminating policies. In a lot of places it’s still a hassle for people with dark hair and black or brown skin to get in.

Tell us more about what to look forward to club wise over the next few months?

Hammer Time will make its return this fall – we’re not entirely sure where just yet, so you’ll have to stay tuned on Facebook. I’m also pretty excited for Tolv Stockholm, beneath the new Tele2 Arena. Julia Frändfors, an old colleague of mine, has taken over and she usually whips places into shape. If all goes well it should bring night life to a new part of the city.
