Alexandra Shanahan and Amber Rosie Watts, otherwise known as May Dar and Beastie, perform together as Anaye, a DJ and rap duo from Stockholm. They live by the permanent motto of “beat-breaking, ball-breaking and booty-shaking”. You can find them around DJ booths all summer.

What can we expect from your DJ nights?

Our mission is that every single person on the dance floor will wake up the next day with stinky armpits, sore legs and a nice feeling in their tummy. A night out with Anaye is a constant dance-battle in a good way, where the people who really dare to let loose takes home the trophy.

What’s the most interesting trend in the Stockholm night life scene for the moment?

It feels like a lot of clubs in Stockholm today prefer to send a message; it’s trendier to convey a certain issue and raise debates concerning our society, rather than picking out the people with the trendiest looks. It’s hip to care!

What is your favourite night spot?

Nightspot: We prefer to hang out with decent, jolly people! If it’s at a nightclub or at a shabby bar is irrelevant. But go skinny-dipping at Trekanten at four a.m. is a great nighttime activity!

What restaurant do you go to?

“KebabKungen” on Götgatan; the best midnight-snack is cheap and comes with a lot of aioli!

And as for bars?

Woken, right behind Björns Trädgård. Affordable beer and cheesy words of encouragement all over the walls! The perfect preparation for a night out.

What’s your plans for the future?

To bring some more pussy in to the hip hop scene in Sweden. After that: total world domination!

What do you think about the future of Stockholm night life?

We pray for more bass and a homier attitude among everybody, and of course cheaper margaritas.

Do you feel like there are any interesting trends going on in Stockholm in general at the moment?

We love the sports-bra trend that kicked in a few months ago. That it’s socially acceptable going to the club looking like Sporty Spice – because let’s face it, a REAL night out is supposed to feel like doing cardio.

Tell us more about what to look forward to club wise the next few months!

If you’re into hip-hop and yearn after fresh meat on the scene, you should come and check our club 0FFBEAT at Pet Sounds Bar, where the best up-and-coming rappers will chill out and do their thing on stage. 31 July and 21 August!
