Fog

fog

The perfectly circular Fog lamp, designed by Front Design for Zero, looks like a globe lit from underneath. As the light source is not evident, the lamp is reminiscent of a planet hovering in space. The effect is in fact created by hiding the source of light deep in the metal socket above, shining its rays on a sand-blasted glass surface, breaking up the beam into a sheer shimmer and creating a fog-like effect. Classic materials and modern technology are perfectly blended together to master a luminous effect that plays a phenomenal trick on the eye.

Frame

frame

The flexible storage solution Frame, by Danish furniture design firm By Lassen, dates way back to 1943, when Mogens Lassen penned a quick sketch of an array of square boxes. The no-nonsense cubes haven’t been put in production until now, and provide useful storage space as well as an intrinsic beauty in their simple elegance. The Frame cubes can be combined into endless formations, using different sizes and finishes, forming a wall-hung sculpture if you will. The Frame modules are created with great attention to detail, leaving the artistic work of combining the squares to the buyer.

Friends & Founders

friends and founders

Danish-Swedish design firm Friends & Founders is a family affair without much history. Despite being founded in 2013, the trio behind the name are by no means beginners in their field as designers. In line with Scandinavian traditions, their work is carefully crafted, utilitarian and uncluttered. We especially like the Knockout collection – a series of slender tables mounted on a chunky foot in the shape of a triangle, square or circle. Not since the decade of free-flowing champagne, shoulder pads and stonewash Levi’s have we laid eyes on a triangular shape in interior decoration executed quite this well.
