The brand new fanzine TRÅD aims to be about the fashion of the future, featuring 13 artists, designers and entrepreneurs, all active in fashion and sustainability in some way, they sharing their work with the reader. The content covers the gamut of fashion, discussing everything from the use of sustainable materials and methods to offering a different approach to the mainstream fashion system.

Behind the project is Jennie Johansson and art director Daniel “Fagge” Fagerström. The fanzine is also connected to Future Threads Project, a platform aiming at bringing the fashion crowd and the sustainability crowd together, without anyone having to compromise.

Jennie has a background in the fashion business, where she’s worked with sales and buying, and during the last couple of years she has developed a great interest for sustainable development, especially in fashion. Self-educated, she chooses to share the knowledge through different initiatives, such as arranging fashion swap shops.

Jennie, why did you decide to make a fanzine?

The fanzine is a project that has been growing for a long time in me. I wanted to gather and display all the great progressive and creative Swedish folk who I’ve met or recognized over the last years. When connecting to Future Threads Project, I finally got the last nudge to do it.

Do we need another fashion mag?

We need more fanzines! Made by real people expressing their passions. There can never be too much of that!

Any highlights from this issue you want to bring up?

Erik Annerborn forecasts the death of dinosaurs aka the big old fast fashion companies. Deadwood Leather tells us about how they make classic biker jackets in a non-classic way and Maria E Harrysson has invited us to her studio, showing us the process of her work and has also made an amazing print that comes with the fanzine.

The next issue of TRÅD is scheduled for release in the fall.
