Punk four-piece Matriarkatet cut their name into Sweden’s music scene as one of the smartest and sharpest bands around, but they’ve decided to burn brightly but briefly. They announced that this summer would be their last as a band, and they’d be breaking up after a final release (their new double single 5/5 backed with 13) and a final set of shows, saying “We’re unbelievably thankful to everyone who listened, hung with us by the merch table, encouraged us and showed us love – you are the ones who’ve made the last four years so much fun”. Their last show has now been confirmed – September 15 at Debaser Strand, with support from Arre! Arre! and F.N.Y. It’s bound to be a special event (hey, it’s the last time this band will ever play together), so is definitely worth a trip down to the Strand.
