We’ve been waiting a while for this one. Kicki Halmos has been around the music scene for quite a while, both as part of dark wave band Masquer and as a touring musician and vocalist for Lykke Li. She first emerged as a solo artist almost two years ago with the synth-disco banger ‘Shoot You Down’, and then things went quiet for a while. It’s only now that she’s dropped her debut EP, Bittersweet.

Bittersweet sees Kiki showcase her stylistic diversity. ‘Shoot You Down’ is here to provide the pop power, but there’s a lot more to her than just that, from the pastoral, colourful instrumental ‘Intro’, the infectious groove of ‘You Can Go’ or the anthemic ‘Birds’. Bittersweet is an innovative, colourful trip of a record, and it makes a good case for Kiki to be one of your favourite new pop artists.
